Team Dance Competition

TEAM DANCE COMPETITION

Contest Sunday Afternoon

  • 3 to 5 members per team

  • Will be judged on ability to dance uniformly. All in the same regalia

  • 1 Northern Song and 1 Southern Song

  • Prizes 1st Place $500; 2nd Place $200 and 3rd Place $100

 

Awards for Men & Women Categories  1st.  -  $750.00     2nd. -    500.00    3rd.  -   350.00  

Awards for Teen Categories                         1st.  -  $150.00     2nd. -    100.00    3rd.  -     75.00  

Awards for Junior Categories           1st.  -   $100.00    2nd. -      75.00  3rd.  -     55.00  

Tiny Tots  (Age 6 & under) $5.00 Per Session  

 

Rules for Dancers

1.   Registration for all categories will open Friday  at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. Registration will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

2.   Contestants may enter in only one category.

3.  Contestants must have full Indian regalia to compete. The contestants must wear suitable, appropriate regalia for the division in which they compete.

4.  Contestants must be at least one-fourth degree Indian blood. Tribal ID is required.

5.  If any major part of a contestant’s regalia falls or is dropped during a dance contest, she or he will be disqualified voluntarily or by the Judges and Arena Director. Dyed hackles or plumes are not considered a major part of the regalia.

6.  Each contestant must wear the number issued by the registrar for their contest category. Contestant’s number must be visible to the people recording numbers during the grand entries and to the judges during the contest. Due to the amount of time it takes to record the contestant’s number, the Committee is asking for your cooperation in displaying the number on your left side, if possible.

7.  Contestants observed holding up the grand entry procession will not receive points for that  grand entry.

8.  Contestants observed  leaving the arena before flags are posted will not receive points for that  grand entry.

9.  Monetary donations from spectators during the contest will disqualify the contestant for that session.

10.  Judges will be selected by the Arena Director.

11.  The contest will be on a point system. Points will be awarded beginning with the 7:30 p.m. Grand Entry Friday as follows:

50 Points—Grand Entry 20 Points—Participation Dances (requested by Arena Director)

30 Points—1st Place 25 Points—2nd Place 20 Points—3rd Place

15 Points—4th Place 10 Points—5th Place    1 Point — Tie Breaker  

12.  Contest finals for all divisions will be held Sunday. There will not be a supper break Sunday.

13.  Contestants suspected of consuming alcohol or drugs will be disqualified for that session by the Committee, Contest Judges or Arena Director.

Please—No whistles during contest or immediately following a contest song!
